5 Year Report Verification Program
Throughout the year, members who joined CAHPI in 2018 will receive a request to submit one inspection report for 5 Year Report Verification. This process will 1) verify that members are producing professional reports that meet the standards and 2) provide an opportunity for CAHPI to make recommendations (if required) for improvements. The Board of Directors believe this is a necessity for our industry, similar to requirements for many other professions, if we are to continue to enhance the credibility of our members. The Report Verification Committee is comprised of experienced and dedicated home inspectors from across the country; none of whom will be asked to verify reports from inspectors in their home region.

Certain LiftMaster garage door control panels recalled due to potential entrapment hazard
Health Canada
Issue: The impacted control panels can allow the operator to unintentionally override the secondary entrapment protection system when the control panel is paired with both an external-facing keypad and a wall-mount operator, and the consumer initiates a door closing cycle using the keypad when there is an obstruction. The override can only occur when the consumer presses and releases "ENTER" a second time within 60 seconds of the initial push.
What to do: The impacted control panels can still be used so long as the operator uses the wireless keypad in accordance with the Owner's Manual and does not press "ENTER" more than once on the keypad. Consumers should contact Chamberlain Group to receive a replacement control panel.

Why atmospheric rivers, derechos and bomb cyclones are on insurers' radar
Canadian Underwriter
Wild and wacky weather events like atmospheric rivers, derechos and bomb cyclones may seem new because of recent media coverage, but they've been known and named phenomena for quite some time in the history of meteorology and atmospheric science, speakers said Tuesday at the CatIQ Connect conference.
